I have to be the proudest Head Teacher in Highland today as our Crown SUPERSTARS competed so well at the McRobert Cup cross country event this morning. With over 900 children competing their was some tough competition from schools across the Authority.
Our P2 and 3 runners (many who have never run in a race before) came out with their best attitudes and fast feet today! The P2/3 girls team came THIRD overall with Georgia coming in the top six for her age group. The P2/3 boys ran like the wind and while they didn’t place in the top three, they were amazing!
Our P4/5 girls team were up next and they came out strong! Alex and Hannah Grey both featured in the top six for this age group and the team worked together to take FIRST place overall. Our P4/5 boys ran brilliantly and it was so close at the finish, they put 100% into their run and did us proud.
The final races were for our P6 and 7 pupils and the competition was pretty tough. Our P6/7 girls ran, gave their very best efforts and we were so proud of them all. Our P6/7 boys were last up and Ross took off and the other boys chased him! Ross came in the top six for his age group and the boys team took FIRST place.
While it’s always wonderful to do well in competitions, what made the day for me was the way our Crown children behaved. There were numerous occasions when our pupils stayed back and cheered on every child taking part. Our older pupils ran alongside the little ones from other schools and encouraged them when they were finding it tough. Their behaviour was supportive, respectful and exemplary… that made me SUPER PROUD!
Please join me in congratulating our fabulous runners: Piper, Evie, Jessica M, Erin, Sophie, Georgia, Conall, Killian, Will, Alister, Sam, Matthew, Alex, Hannah, Freya, Grace, Isla, Charlotte, Ciaran, Alexander, Jamie T, Max S, Max H, Gideon, Ava, Erin, Jessica F, Carly, Annabelle, Issy, Ross, Jake, Andrew, Robbie, Joe and Jamie C!
A HUGE thank you also to all the parents, family members and friends who came along to help and support the teams – we couldn’t have done it without you all!
