MTB Champion Rides into Crown

LEE CRAIGIE | British Mountain Bike Champion and former member of Team GB Cycling, is to deliver a  talk to the upper school this Friday 19 May 2017 @ 13.30pm.  She will no doubt inspire pupils and teachers alike.

Last year, in May 2016, Lee set herself and six fellow elite (female) cyclists an endurance challenge on our own doorstep.  As a team they set out to cycle the Highland ‘North Coast 500’ (miles) in under 36hrs, with the minimum of one cyclist having cycled the entire length of the route. Working together, they succeeded and set a new record. This in turn led to the origin of the ‘The Adventure Syndicate’.

The Adventure Syndicate  is a visionary group of bike riders who share the desire to encourage, in particular (but not exclusively) women and girls to challenge what they think they are capable of.  This ties in with the aspiration we have for ALL our pupils at Crown.

To this end we are very lucky to have secured her to talk in our school, as part of a short programme of talks she is delivering to schools in the Highlands and Islands. As it is to be held in the main hall we may have capacity to have a few parents or carers attend, if this is of interest.  We will, however, need a firm idea of numbers so please contact the school by Wednesday 17 May, to reserve a seat, if you wish to come.

Inspiring | Encouraging | Enabling
