Interdisciplinary Learning

The children are busy exploring lots of ideas, information and issues through their Interdisciplinary Topics.  These topics are usually driven by one area of the curriculum but they also connect learning from a variety of different curricular areas and encourage children to find the answers to the questions asked.  This term the children are working on the following topics and if you have any knowledge, expertise or items you can send in that would enhance the learning for the children then we’d love to hear from you:

Primary 1: Pirates Ahoy!  A topic that incorporates Science, Literacy, Numeracy and the Arts.

Primary 2: Sun, Moon and Stars – A scientific study that takes the children out into space.

Primary 3c2: Hamish McGrow – A scientific study exploring plants, life-cycles and keeping our planet healthy.

Primary 3: Going, Going GONE! A scientific study exploring life on Earth and how to preserve it.

Primary 4c3: Light up your Life! A scientific study exploring light, sound and the senses.

Primary 4: I came, I saw, I conquered…The Romans are Coming! A historical topic that looks at how the Romans have changed how we live today.

Primary 5c4: The Viscous Vikings – A historical topic that takes the children back in time to experience life during the time of the Vikings.

Primary 5: Cool Britannia– A geographical study that takes the children on journeys around the UK.

Primary 6c5: Surprises on your Doorstep – A geographical study that explores Inverness and the local area.

Primary 6: Fantastic France and Intriguing Italy– A geographical study that compares and contrasts two European countries.

Primary 7: Mysteries of the East – Adventures in China that explore the land, the people, the rituals and the challenges faced in this land.
