* Please note the Amercan spelling of organisation in the image.
Organisation is the internal structure of a piece of writing, the thread of central meaning, the pattern and sequence.
The organisational structure of a piece of writing very much depends on it’s genre. It can be based on comparison-contrast, deductive logic, point-by-point analysis, development of a central theme, chronological history of an event, to name just a few. When the organisation is strong, the piece begins meaningfully and creates in the writer a sense of anticipation that is ultimately fulfilled.
When a writer organises their writing well, events proceed logically and ideas are connected. The writing has a strong ending and closes with a sense of resolution.
