The grand total of money raised at our Summer Fete this year is now sitting at…£3,625.59! This money will go a long way to both providing bus transport for all children to go on their end of year trips and also for our 21st Century Learning Zone! Thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a HUGE success!
Month: May 2014
Thinking about next year…
We’re almost in June and it’s that time of year when we start thinking about classes for next year. We have been informed that next session we will have 12 classes, instead of 13 as we have had this session.
When we put classes together we strive to create classes that are balanced in terms of needs, gender, friendships and abilities. Teachers will be working with the children next week to find out a little about friendships but also to help the children think about the children they work with that help them be the best they can be!
For most children moving from year to year goes smoothly but for some it can cause anxiety. What we need from you is that if you have any concerns or worries about your child’s transition and class for next session, that you think their teacher may not already be aware of, then please communicate this by email to me directly by the end of the day on Tuesday if at all possible. (elspeth.mackenzie@highland.gov.uk)
All schools are dependent on staffing allocations given by the Council and while we hope to have classes organised soon and allow children to move-up to their new class and meet their teacher in the last week of school, this will be dependent on confirmation of our staffing allocation for next session.
The School Day…
Remember voting closes at the end of the day, so please make sure you click your preference today!
Sporting Fun!
What an amazing day we all had yesterday when the Caley Thistle coaches came and put the P1-7 children through their paces! A huge thank you to the coaches for spending the morning with us- everyone had a great time!
Badminton Success!
Well done to Jess, Karolina, Tom and Matthew who ventured off to Tain on Monday to compete in a Badminton Tournament. Mrs Forbes accompanied them and said they were a credit to the school! They all played incredibly well and took third place overall. Congratulations, we’re very proud of you!
Staffing Update
A couple of changes to staffing have happened recently, last week Mrs Kellacher was appointed as the Head Teacher of Lochardil Primary School! While we’re over the moon for her, we’ll miss her terribly… Mrs Kellacher will finish the year with us and her Primary 7 class and then take up her new post in August. We’re currently in negotiation with the Business Support unit and hope to have the Depute Head post advertised soon. We’ll keep you informed of any developments in this area.
Mrs Hutchison is also off to pastures new and is taking early retirement. Again, we’ll miss all she’s done for the pupils at Crown and are excited to hear about what she gets up to with her new-found freedom!
There will be a collection for both teachers (and Mrs Danby), if you would like to contribute towards a leaving gift for Mrs Kellacher and/or Mrs Hutchison, please send your money to school in an envelope with their name clearly marked on it.
Please join me in wishing them both all the very best for all that is to come!
Bake Sale
We’ve been asked by a couple of pupils from Millburn to help them with their fundraising efforts, please see their message below:
We are from Millburn Academy and we’ll be having a bake sale at Crown Primary to help raise money to go on the World Challenge to India, which will include trekking and helping in an orphanage or school.
The bake sale will be on Friday 30th May at break time. There will be a variety of cakes to choose from. All cakes will be priced at 50p and all contributions very gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Emma Kenton (Millburn Academy Pupil)
So, remember your 50p on Friday and support the girls in their World Challenge venture!
Our Second Attempt…
Due to torrential rain on the 21st May, we had to cancel our whole school photo. The date has been rescheduled for Monday 2nd June and the photo will be taken in the afternoon. Any morning Nursery children are welcome to come back with their parents/carers, who will need to stay with them while the photo is being taken. We’ll give you ‘exact’ times closer to the day and please remember everyone should try to wear their blue school sweatshirt (or if in Nursery anything blue). Fingers crossed for a dry day!
