Morning Nursery Performance

shepherd-with-sheep

Just a reminder that our morning Nursery will be entertaining parents and carers with The Sleepy Shepherd on Friday 5th December!  Parent should sign their children into Nursery and then come around to the gym hall where the doors will open at 9.30am for teas and coffees, then the show starts at 9.45am. Please note the change in times as there may have been some confusion here.  Hope to see you all on the 5th!

Primary 2 Update

We’re really pleased that while we await the appointment of our new Depute Head to take over in Primary 2, Miss Sophie Rae has managed to juggle her other commitments and will take full-time responsibility for the class as of Monday December 1st.  This is super news as having one teacher, five days a week, will ensure there is greater consistency for the children. Please join me in welcoming Miss Rae to the Crown Team.

‘Tis the Season…

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has already started handing in donations for the Christmas Fayre – we really appreciate your generosity! We’re still on the look out for more goodies, so if you’re able to help support this fundraising event please send in your items to your child’s class.

What do we need?

  • Bottles for the Tombola (anything in a bottle is good- shampoo, fruit shoot, wine!)
  • Secondhand toys, games and dressing up clothes that are still in good condition. Take a look at what you’ve got at home and see if there’s something your child no longer plays with or uses – we’d love to have it!
  • Books and DVDs for children and adults – these don’t have to be new but might be hardly used or read and ideal for the Fayre.
  • Secret Santa gifts (new and unused items that can be sold in Santa’s Shop).

The children are all busy planning their stalls and activities for the Fayre and there’s going to be lots on offer – so do keep the date free.  All our fundraising efforts will go towards supporting the development of our Learning Zone, outdoor play equipment and of course trips and experiences for everyone!

A Reminder or Two…

If you wish to take advantage of the free postal service, please make sure all Tempest photo orders are handed into school on or before Friday 28th November.  Any late orders will need to be sent off independently and at your own cost.

Also, today a few children reported their football cards and collection books had gone missing.  Can we ask all parents to check their children have not arrived home with the wrong book/cards and if so, can these please be returned to school as soon as possible. As these all look the same and are easily confused we kindly ask that if your child has a card collection (some of which clearly have cost a lot of money to build up) that this remains at home.  Children can still bring in cards to swap if they wish but they will need to be responsible for these and keep them in their classroom trays for safe keeping. Thanks in advance for your support in keeping our football fans happy!

Crown Corner Club

As you know the Crown Corner Club provides after school care for many of our pupils and while this is not managed by the school, it’s a wonderful resource to have on our doorstep. If your child attends or this is something you would like to find out more about then please go along to their Annual General Meeting on December 2nd.  CLICK HERE here to find out more!

You said…we did!

At the end of last year some parents said that they were still unsure how their children were doing in terms of their progress in Reading, Writing and Maths.  For Parent’s Night this year you will have seen that teachers shared with you a Pupil Update Form, what we need to know is if this was useful!

Please take a moment to click below and let us know if this did in fact give you a clearer indication of how your child is doing and is something you would like to see us use again.

Congratulations!

HUGE congratulations to our P6 and 7 Cross Country Runners who represented the school at the South Highland Schools event yesterday!  The girls ran really well and came in fourth while the boys’ team took second place.  A big well done to Gordon who ran like the wind and took an individual second place out of over 100 other runners!

More success for Crown also came at the Inverness Swimming Club Special Event on Wednesday night where our relay team took FIRST place!  Congratulations to Mairi, Rachel, Ross and Andrew! Photos coming soon…

Meet the Learning Council

Last term each class chose two people to represent them at our weekly Learning Council Meetings.  The Learning Council works to make our school the best it can be and the class reps bring to these meetings the views and feelings of their classmates.  This year the Learning Council are VERY excited as they have been charged with developing our outdoor space!  We were lucky enough to be granted a considerable sum from the Ward Discretionary Fund and the children are busy planning how this could be best used.  The fundraising we do as a school (through the Halloween Disco, Christmas and Summer Fayres etc) will also go towards this project.  If your child has any ideas for what they would like to see in the playground then get them to leave a comment on the blog so the Learning Council can consider everyone’s ideas!

Within the Learning Council we have elected Office Bearers and they are already doing a super job of planning and running the meetings!  Meet the Team… Chair Person – Finlay P7, Vice Chair – Emily P5/6, Secretary – Sean P5/6 and Time Manager Gemma P5.  I’m really excited about seeing what we can achieve this session 🙂
